Virginia Rosa

ARTIST STATEMENT

“Artists are privileged to be blessed with a certain visual joy. One shares perceptual experiences by recording one’s impression of pleasing images, thus sharing the joy with the viewer.”

My love of art has taken many avenues and crossed into varied mediums, but I have always believed that my innate gift was observation, accuracy. and precision. I’ve enjoyed honing those skills during life studies for instance. For that reason my artistic style is rarely abstract. I frequently employ measuring by sight and often do the same when I have worked on many portraits and landscapes in oil and pastel. For 15 years I was annually commissioned for portraits to be used as corporate gifts. I also work in pastels and oils. My joy of printmaking is partly due to the use of new and inventive techniques.
