Bobbie Adams
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am most interested in examining and pondering and portraying aspects of the physical world. I have come to love the subjects of my childhood that I ignored back then - anatomy, physics, mathematics - and I am intrigued with the challenge of portraying an essence or idea of fundamental natural phenomena. My abstractions are intended to capture moments, movement, or place, and to create connections between seemingly disparate or unrelated elements.
My imagery is created using many layers of transparent color, mainly printmaking plates, and a variety of techniques. I often combine printmaking with pulp painting and paper making processes. My work is intuitive, but deliberate. I love the iterative process and the intensity of the physical labor and have been working in this manner for a very long time.
