Tetrapak Intaglio Workshop with Bonnie Goldstein

Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2 pm to 5 pm

Registration Fee: $40

Printmaking Studio, lower level
The Plastic Club
247 South Camac St, Philadelphia PA 19107

This workshop offers an introduction to a non-toxic form of drypoint etching, using recycled Tetrapak materials, such as those found in juice and soup cartons. This approach eliminates the need for costly copper plates, focusing instead on readily available household items.

Drypoint involves physically etching a drawing into a plate with a sharp tool, creating grooves that retain ink, which is then transferred to paper under the pressure of a press. Participants will be instructed in various drypoint techniques and will have the opportunity to produce their own small edition of prints using an etching press.

All necessary materials will be supplied, and no prior experience in art-making or printmaking is required. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own Tetrapaks and any sharp tools to work with. Also, bring reference images or sketches for their work.

The instructor, Bonnie Goldstein, brings 40 years of experience in non-toxic printmaking, encompassing collagraphs, drypoint, relief, and monotypes, and has also taught art for many years, in addition to creating artist books.
