Patricia Shaw Lima

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a printmaker, I work in series. The themes that attract me are the edges of life...the highs and the lows; the joys and the sorrows. I call the current series Familiar Ground. It explores the concept and various meanings of the word “home.” Is our home a house, neighborhood, city, nation, planet? The prints consider the options as they interpret residential settings, cityscapes and our natural world with all of its attendant beauty and environmental threats. The images depict both scenes of contentment and peacefulness, and circumstances of psychological and natural disorder. They reflect the variations in the places of origin from which we emerged.
