My etching and monotype series "Celestial Navigation" is a body of work expressing in a fantastical and spiritual sense our relationship to the universe. These works are the result of my exploration of this theme over a period of several years.

The universe represents a never ending mystery and source of fascination for the artist as well as the scientist. Its myriad forms, tones and shapes are an endless source of inspiration for the creation of a pictorial imagery.

My encounter is a cosmic one using artistic media to visually express my fascination with the "beyond the beyond" and of its limitless possibilities. I attempt to create a sense of distance and volume by the use of tone and amorphous shape in conjunction with solid forms. Mood and atmosphere are one of my concerns. The image attempts to transcend its actual appearance and locale, and to infuse it with a sense of magic.
